I saw the substitution for the corn tortilla you provided to another person. Masa harina (corn flour). I’m afraid that would also go to waste. So, can I accomplish good results by subbing about a teaspoon of corn meal?

You cook the tortilla quickly, then add it to the food processor with the other sauce ingredients and blend until the sauce is creamy & smooth. The tortilla flavors & thickens the sauce. I hope this helps.

This looks delicious! I’m going to make this for a party and add a layer of beef/picadillo. I’m a bit lost between blending the tortilla and seasoning it and heating the sauce. Do you put the blended seasoned tortilla mix back into skillet when heating the sauce or do you cook the sauce then add the blended tortilla mix to the sauce after turning off the skillet when plating?
